Getting your haircut in Japan, and in particular our somewhat remote corner of the country, is more often than not a gamble! The difference in the way Japanese hairdressers are taught to cut, the differences in hair texture, the language barrier and style barriers, all add up to a recipe for a possibly disastrous hair-incident! (Unless you are after a specifically Japanese-esq look). I have survived many a hair-dye gone wrong, or barbarically-thinned out hair cut, and understand how daunting a trip to a J-salon can be (particularly for those new to Japan).
But there is some help at hand! My very good friend,
Kazumasa Okumura has spent the last 2-3 years training and working as a hairdresser in London, and has return to Ishikawa and opened up his own salon. If you are looking for an English-speaking hairdresser with experience of working with a wide range of hair types and colours, he could be just the guy for you!
Kazumasa originally trained and worked in Osaka, and after obtaining a one year scholarship to train with top London stylists, he then went on to become a stylist in his own right at one of the London based Sanrizz salons. See the following website for more details:
www.sanrizz.co.uk

Kazumasa’s aim is to bring the skills he has learnt from London, and use them back home in Ishikawa at his salon, which caters well for both Japanese and foreign customers.
